More about us
Old Age Visitation:
Mariska Phillips organises functions for the aged in the community from time to time. Mariska also visits the old folks in the congregation.
Widows:
We support a few widows financially as well as with food items from time to time.
Clothing & Food:
Logos Believers’ Church (previously Africa Church Plant) was founded by Pastor Ian Loughor-Clarke in March 2001. We help this ministry with a monthly offering and with clothing and food items from time to time.
Some of their responsibilities:
The three most important gifts an usher needs are servant hood, hospitality and love.
The first impression that a visitor (or potential member) gets of a church is the way in which he/she is welcomed when entering. It is of vital importance that you make them feel at home and loved. Your role of that being a host or hostess is more than just an usher.
Your main functions would be the following :
- Be on “welcoming” duty at the door by 08:30.
- Prepare the church building: Make sure all chairs are neat and the entrance of the church is swept & clean & that there is toilet paper in toilets
- Make sure the offering baskets are ready to take up the offerings & tithes during the service.
- Ask someone else (not an usher) to help you take up the offering (involving others and duplicating yourself).
- Count the money together with Trevor and write it in the tithes & offering book.
- Hand out the appropriate literature while welcoming them (eg. Bulletin, new duty lists, etc).
- Allocate special seats where necessary (eg. mothers with babies, the aged or sick).
- One of the two ushers on duty to stay near the door during worship until the ministry starts (so as to direct latecomers to seats if necessary
and to ensure that they also receive the literature), the other to take care of the transparencies.
- Keep a watchful eye for the needs of the people during the service (eg. doors and windows – too hot or too cold, disturbances, tissues, etc.).
- After the service invite the visitors to join us for tea and where possible, introduce them to the pastor and some of the other members.
- Be on duty when it is your turn! If you are unable to do duty, please contact one of the other ushers and ask them to take over your duty
or swop duties with them. If you still do not manage to swop with anyone, please contact Sonja Liebenberg – 015 276-1111, 082-950-6440.
- Be faithful and committed.
- Make sure Pastor has water in the lectern.
- Check on tissues on the entrance table and hand them out when necessary.
- Welcome all with a smile.
- Take newcomers’ names and inform the Pastor. Hand out visitors’ card and welcoming brochure.
- Be ready to assist the Pastor where necessary.
- If not on duty, be prepared and willing to assist when called upon, even at short notice.
- Be prepared to be on duty at special functions.
Ushers and Hostesses serve the Pastor and the people of the church and especially visitors, so that services can flow decently and in order, thus enhancing the ministry of God’s Word and the move of the Holy Spirit.
They are ‘people persons’ who make people that come into the church feel welcome and appreciated. Because of this it contribution to the ministry is crucial as they make everyone’s church experience so much more positive.
So should you be a friendly, happy people person we would like to encourage you to be a part of this ministry.

Prayer
We do not believe in a department of prayer, but rather believe that we have all been called to pray. However we do from time to time call a prayer meeting and pray corporately as a congregation over a specific issue.
Pre-Service Prayer Meeting
All are welcome to join us as we pray for the service from 8.30am to 8.45am just before the 9am Sunday service in the Mother Room.
The church is open most of the time during the week and anyone is welcome to go and pray in the Gap Room, as it is private and quiet.
Counseling
Please contact someone at Telefriend if you do not have the liberty to come to us for counseling.
Telefriend is a telephone care, support (and evangelism) helpline and they minister to anyone who wants to talk to someone on a very confidential basis.
Telefriend is a service that is operated from South Africa but anyone is welcome to phone in if they want to speak to a caring person.
